Critical thinking Curiosity If I say Albert Einstein had no special talent it become curiosity. That give all of us best chance to be super problem solver. Here two different thoughts are.   Photo by geralt   Critical thinking presents what, why and how Creative thinking presents what if, why not Steve jobs We cannot connect the dots looking forward, we only connect them looking back. If I say he is wrong, it become again curiosity. Why cannot connect dots to look forward? Experience does matter. But the question is where the dots came from? This is critical thinking. How to be stay curious? There is no one way to fit all kind of mind. Always challenge what you see and hear. Ask people, do not consult google. It is easy to accept what you see or hear but not easy to be curious always. For example chicken came first or egg? Tree came first or forest? If you come ask the google how much do you remember? But if you ask someone around you looking for, it much more likely remember what you have learned. While always be curious, your mind always be active through continuous exercise. Explained Steve Bliss, dean for the School of Fine Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design and a photographer himself. “I am curious to see how something looks photographed, but I’m also trying to be as original and creative as possible in terms of how I’m looking at things,” he said of his own process. Changing one’s angle and wondering how different the same thing will look when viewed in different light and through different lenses is rooted in a sense curiosity, and also helps to foster it. Photo by Mario Cuadros from Pexels         Creativity   Creativity is in all of us, somewhere in dark corner. Some of us haven’t visited yet. Before explore creativity in our self. Let’s talk about creativity itself. The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules and patterns and to create meaningful new ideas. Extract and produce something from nothing.   John Cleese said “people often say to me, where you get your ideas from? I say I get them from a Mr. Ken live in Shaw, who lives in Swindon. He sends them to me every Monday morning on a postcard and I say I once asked Ken, where he gets his ideas from? He gets them from a lady called Mildred smaller lives on the Isle of Wight but, he once asked Mildred spawn, where she got her ideas from? She refused to say so the point is we don’t know. This is terribly important we don’t know where we get our ideas from. What we do know is we do not get them from our laptops, in fact as I was indicating to you I do recounting my earliest experiences. We get our ideas from what angered a call for a moment our unconscious the part of our mind that goes on working. For example when were asleep so what I’m saying is that, if you get into the right mood then your mode of thinking will become much more creative. If you’re racing around all day ticking things off on lists looking if you watch making phone calls and generally just keeping all the balls in the air, you are not going to have any creative ideas so, now I want to run very quickly over how in this sort of frenzied world that we all live in. how you can create a mood? That will enable you to be more creative and basically the way I put it is that you need to create a tortoise enclosure so that your little tortoise mind and little nervous creature it just look around and then think yes it’s safe to come out and to do this. You have to create a kind of Oasis in your life in the middle of the stressed”. Edward de mono says “it’s just not a matter of sitting by the river, playing the music and hoping people would inspire”. Four concepts that help to separate creative thinking from the idea of “ex nihlo” are: Flexibility, fluency, originality, and clarity Flexibility refers to the concept that a creative person approaches a given problem from many different angles.  All of their ideas are not based off of the same theme. Fluency refers to the need/ability to generate a large number of ideas to select a solution from. Originality refers to the novelty, uniqueness, or newness of the idea. Clarity refers to the idea that a creative idea is not vague.  It is specific enough that others can understand the idea, talk about it, elaborate on it, and explore it further.   These concepts can be divided into two parts – outcomes, and processes.  Originality and clarity are descriptive of creative outcomes; flexibility and fluency are characteristic of a creative process.  Most creativity techniques focus on aspects of the process (especially flexibility) with the hope that by increasing the creativity of the process, creative outcomes will more easily follow    Creative thinking No rules apply to creativity. Here is several ways to spark creativity in you. Most of them you can try because not all of them will work for everyone. But first you need to know creativity is in all of you, need to encourage. To know how good you are at something just give starting or finishing time some several activates.

  • Doodling exercise
  • Words play
  • Tedious doing
  • Stare of into space
  • Make list of opposites
  • Use all five sense

John Cleese. Key to creative thinker is to avoid interruption. Today to learn something new, each day I want to learn something new because I’m very old and will be dead soon. So, I want to be as well-informed as I can possibly be die. I was listening to the Flemish language today. I realized why it is called Flemish and that is because it is the best language ever invented anywhere in the world for disposing of phlegm. When I went to Cambridge and joined a club called the footlights, which produced a show at the end of each year and the local Cambridge professional theater you know sketches, songs and this kind of thing, when I suddenly discovered that I could sit down with a blank sheet of paper and two hours later, I could have written something that then made people laugh this was an extraordinary moment for me. I thought goodness I am creative so, because I had been brought up as a scientist, I got into Cambridge on science I started observing, what was going on when I was creating. For example the first thing that I noticed is that if I was trying to write a sketch at night and I got stuck or I couldn’t  think of an ending or I couldn’t see how to continue the sketch. I would go to bed and when I woke up in the morning and made myself a cup of coffee and went back to my desk to look at the problem, not only was the solution to this problem immediately apparent to me but I couldn’t even remember what a problem had been the previous night? I couldn’t understand why I did not see what the solution was. So, I began to realize that this business of sleeping on a problem as we say in the English language. I think you have a very similar phrase the idea of working at something thinking about something going to bed and then waking up with the solution, was absolutely extraordinary. That is actually the key to what I’m talking to you about today. Now this business of coming to a solution overnight without thinking about it. The next extraordinary experience I had as I wrote a script and I liked this script very much and because, I’m always been a bit disorganized I lost it and I couldn’t find it anywhere. I was pretty disappointed but I sat down and I forced myself to rewrite it from memory and it didn’t take terribly long. Then I found the original unfortunately I was curious enough to compare the two and what I discovered was the one that I had rewritten from memory was noticeably better than the original that I’d lost. When I realized that the explanation for this was that after I’d finished writing the original my unconscious part of my mind continued working on it. Even though I was not aware that what was happening with the result that when I came to write it out again. It was better because why else would it have been better particularly as I wrote it out the second time much faster. So, I began to see that there was something going on but, there was a part of my mind that was helping me be much more creative. The next thing that I noticed was that the most dangerous thing. When I was trying to write anything was to be interrupted because the flow of thought that I had was not immediately picked up after the interruption, it took me a very long time now if, I was writing something that was relatively straightforward like a monologue. It was easier to pick it up what I discovered later on. Writing Fawlty Towers where I was imagining a situation. I was having to carry in my mind the emotional states of all the people taking part in that scene, that I noticed that interruptions were much more destructive. So, the key to getting in a creative state is to avoid interruptions. Critical thinking – cognitive framework Critical thinking is the cognitive framework defines the mental action or process of gaining knowledge and understanding through thought, experience and the senses, conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, or evaluating information gathered from, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication. Metacognition Thinking about thinking literally meaning “knowing what we know” and “what we don’t know” try to think about how my thinking process is? Ability to know our own thought process. It’s important skill if we understand how we think. How to learn “learning”. A student need to know learning styles.( mind map) Which way student can learn fast for example visualization things, audio, reading novels, writing kinesthetic, demonstrations. 4 level of critical thinking Tacit use Every day thinking without thinking about the process. Should I buy milk from store? Should I cross the road I should wait? David Neumann Professor School of Communication Rochester Institute of Technology they’re your natural ways of being that you don’t even have to cognitively process. They just come out. I mean, face it, we are really complex creatures. We do all sorts of complex tasks, without even thinking about it. We’ve all had the experience of driving from work to home and not remembering the drive. We’ve navigated through traffic and stop lights, managed not to hit any pedestrians or get any speeding tickets. And we don’t even remember the drive. So this is a form of unconscious skills. We don’t even think about it, because we were repeating them over and over and over again go ahead and cross your arms. You’ve been doing it this way your whole lives. You’ve been folding here arms. Now try to fool them the other way. Try to reverse your fold. Not quite that easy. Aware use I need to come up with $1300 to repair my car. Should I get it from my saving or use credit card? Strategic use I need to go for vacations. Should I start from where I need to go or first I need money to plan? Reflective use Highest level of thinking is reflective use. Do I have all information, before I move to my next career? I should ask myself. I’m thinking about best way possible. So question is which way you use to think? How to improve critical thinking Arise vital question problem Everyone have problems in daily life there is no big deal. The most important is which one is most essential to be solved. A person got problems need to find solution which one is more necessary so that other will be automatically solved. For example a mike have two sons fight and compete always with some success. Mike accommodate one other claims no fair. Here is a problem created. How to accommodate both equal? It would never solved by accommodate both equal. Mike need to teach them understand the value of sharing. Relationship values, cooperate each other. What you think? How sibling fight can be solve over fighting everything? Gather and access relevant information Once I got a problem with instant Gas water heater I gave to the repairer. He fixed and put the bill of 900 in my hand after I fix it on wall and tried to start, it didn’t work. I ask him what the problem was, he replied. There was an issue with sparking. Then I opened it myself after a couple of mints I came to knew that the cell was weak. The point is, when problem is occurred, need to gather relevant information the problem will solve in no time or it will be a waste of time and money or will get more problems.   Remain open minded and explore alternatives Being a problem solver mind must be open. Think out of the box and try to explore alternative solution what will work best. Look at your problem in different dimensions find a new perspective that you have not thought of before. Brainstorming or immediate noting of alternatives is an excellent discovery process. When you have listed alternatives. Critical thinking scenario Grandfather uses vinegar daily for their good health. They told me to have daily or you be sick. But Grandmother used four days and she died. Why she died? How grandfather healthy by using vinegar what will happen when I use and why do I use? What you think?
